Yes, everything starts with a mess. Doesn’t it? Everything has to get worse, before it can get better.
On my studio rearrange #2 project…
- I took down the storage shelves.
- I took down the art holders from the wall
- I moved the big desk next to the other one
- I wrapped up that giant desk in bubble wrap and shrink wrap (a wrestling match)
- I found someone to help me paint
- That person didn’t come (sigh! do over)
- I got colors
- I found someone else (fingers crossed)
- I carried Ada on my shoulders through IKEA on a crazy weekend day to buy a 96″ butcher block counter top, and wheeled it out across the giant parking lot, a crazy wiggling cart, with her on shoulders
- I hauled the unwanted/uneeded stuff to storage with my helpers (hired guy & Ada – perfect!)
- I hung the stuff back up, swept, and looked around
So, yes, 2.5 months later, its still a mess! Many parts not even started: desk legs, chair, key board spot, computer set-up, rug, plants, etc. And that’s not even talking about what to do here, ha! Change is hard: no owners manual, no audience, no approval. Yes, a small studio space, but something not so unique.
Wrestling with a giant desk and a roll of shrink wrap takes faith. How about you? I now have a green/blue wall too!
Let the space change me.
