Green bookshelf

Getting rid of the green bookshelf was difficult and painful.  As it drives off in the back of a white and black Mini-Cooper, I feel the need for breath.  Long and deep breaths, as I walk up the grassy driveway where the green metal bookshelf last sat.

Chipped paint, with a two tone light and dark green, inside and outside.  It was Studio Lamienne before there was SLM.

So much hope, dreams, creativity… my life as studio.  Something deeply personal, deeply unseen and hopeful and full of sadness – it was to me.  Joy from a void.  So much of me in that – the artist inside – from melancholy and love.

I painted that on my grassy lawn, spray paint and masking tape.  Proud, excited.  My life.  My mark.  I loved that green bookshelf.  It embodied so many things that mattered to me – reclaimed, creative, etsy before etsy, my idea, a funky interesting and creative life.  Found, made, transformed, and brought into life.  Solid, I love metal.

Good bye green bookshelf.  I knew you 22 years.

You held a possibility for me.

I take you inside.  I let you go.
