creating a space for nuanced living

Getting new categories

Its a lot of work getting the new categories in our lives.

That is, letting them happen.
Knowing when they’re here.
And surrendering to let them out.
(To again be new. sheesh!)
(And not getting buggy in the process.)

That’s because they keep changing and evolving, esp. in times of deep change and creating new things from the inside –> out.

I’m finding it’s a lot about letting things grow and accumulate, and then realizing one day, you need to spend some time hiving off and and re-visualizing the categories.

This is one of those days.

Today, I’m adding some new computer folders. I took piles of folders out of my bag and figured out, “hey what do I have here?” & “what colors they should be in?”. One folder is really full – I’ve known it’s a bunch of things – but it’s starting to become a second, so I formally hive it off. I can also now see the 3-4 categories of the 8-9 folders I’ve been carrying around. I also find from some recent stuff in the world: relationships, communication, and emerging possibilities that I have another product to work on. I will need more research, gathering, and relationships/communication, before I can make it into something and make it real with visible legs to others…

But these are the bits, the pieces, the steps.

So I set off to diagram. I draw. There are 3 main pieces now. They will allow me to work at the next level. Creating them and the things in my life I’m working on them for will move me to a next place where I can start to work on another set of descriptions that will take me to another spot, where I know I also want to go.

So, the connections are more clear. I can now slow down and work on them. This should last for awhile. The reasons for the mundane have meaning…

So, yep! I like making categories. Its weird (uncomfortable) to arrive at a place where things are getting kludgy. But redoing categories helps things get clear enough (!) to get a few more steps. Creating is spherical stuff. But with support for swirling… a space, workflow, permission to diagram, and sit.. it all can be possible and clear.
